SIX RUBAIYAATS

Stanza-1

        If an old tree -trunk sends out a tender sprounts,

       will one who knows given it a different name?

       the old order has just been pruned, no more,

       an idiot may, perhaps, call it democracy 

Meaning of words:

     Pruned- cut

Stanza-2

        Bullets chase a poor fellow; bread eludes his grasp.

        Even in freedom helpless, hapless he

        Sheeplike must submit to one who kills.

        Butcher alone has changed; the cut is as it used to be.

Meaning of word:

    eludes- to avoid being caught 

    hapless-unfortunate(person)

    Butcher-  a person who sells meat

Stanza-3

       will hail, hail and public audience aught a vail?

       will mere bits of raw thread even dam the wounds?

       As long as the knife -blade reaches the nation's cancer, ah?

Meaning of word:

         Hail-praise /(to say in public that somebody/something is very good or very special)

        cancer- here it is refers to corruption 

Stanza-4 

      The minister's doggie frolics up the sofa sets,

      some kiss it, some others embrace it.

      Behold the laborer, ah, still with the rope on his.

      shoulder, furrows on his brow.

      Belly sunskin, heat auburn, liver heating up.

      A cool capitalist you, o chinar!

      green you look in spring, turn took bloody in autumn,

     The empty-bellied poor you lull to sleep.

Meaning of word;

     frolics-to behave in a playful way

     furrows- worry/tension

     auburn-reddish brown

     bellied- swell

    chinar- name of the tree grows in Kashmir

Stanza-5

   What fire, then, is it that consume you within?

   This, the Hindu days, that, the Afghans, O!

  different arc the days of Bhagavan and Rahman,

   Blessed indeed the days when people say our own day has come.

   Arif aspires to see the day of Man Adawn.

Meaning of word:

     Arif- is authors name

    

Summary of the poem:

        Six Rubaiyaats (RUBAIYAATS is a Persian word which means singular rhyming pattern used in Persian language). This poem was written by Mirza Arif Aassain Beg. who lived between (1910-2005) .He is kaishmiri writer .This poem was written in Urdu, and later it got translated in english.it is haiku(short poem). This poem does not have equal number of line in every stanza.

  This poem tells us about the political condition the our country. 

1st stanza 

tells us about the who could able to call our country as democratic when the political condition and rules are against the people of the country. who idiotic person we are as the poet,

2nd stanza 

deals with how poor people get suck with the political leaders, eventhough the mistake is not done by them the gun points it at them and they are helpless. the sheep cutter keeps on changing but the cut is same(political leader changes but the poor people at the point_).

3rd Stanza,

 in this Stanza the audience praise the political as like anything but at the end he does not get anything in returns the wound for praising him. 

4th Stanza 

here Minister dog of our country will get royal welcome, some people like it and play with it and some people will kiss it but the poor people who work hard would have nothing this country .( the poor people in this stanza refer to Farmer).And they are compared with chinar tree when season change the leaf of the tree get changed as like that the poor workers changes. But the pain within them stay and they been sleepless and empty stomach the political leader condition is vise versa.

5th stanza 

At last the authors refer to the people of the nation and ask there is day for Bhagavan and Rahman why there is no day for human? when people say the day has come for human then that day will be the day for poet there will beam of light in his life entre into life.
